To line your curtains with blackout lining, simply add one unit of lining for each curtain panel in your order to the cart. Please pick the same size for your lining as your curtain panels, and that's it! We will sew your curtains with our room darkening, blackout lining instead of the default privacy lining.
Our blackout lining is a specially coated, thick-woven fabric, produced specifically to block incoming light to a considerable degree. Since heat is associated with light, it also blocks heat transmission which is of great help during summer to keep the home’s interiors cool. In winter, it reduces energy spendings on your boiler and heating system as it reduces the loss of thermal energy through the windows considerably. The thick weave of the fabric also helps to muffle sounds, making your drapery capable of blocking out shrill external noises substantially. In short, blackout lining helps the drapery to block light, heat and sound substantially.
Our blackout linings come in three colours - white, beige and grey - offering clients plenty of bandwidth to appease any decor style, especially if the rear side of the window treatment will be visible to an adjoining room or an outdoor living area. The white lining toes in line with the bright and airy aesthetics of casual spaces and decor styles like farmhouse, coastal and Scandinavian, and comes across as a privacy lining at first glance due to its colour. The beige lining is preferred for warm-coloured face fabrics and the grey lining for cool-coloured face fabrics for better colour coordination. Overall, the blackout linings offer three neutral options that are incredibly versatile and can be teamed with all the drapery fabrics in our collection.
Before we move on, we must mention that although the blackout lining is quite effective at blocking light, it is not 100% light-blocking. During brightest hours, daylight may diffuse through the lining of curtains and be visible like a soft glow on the frontage. There also are other factors beyond just the lining itself that play a role in how well-contained light leaks can be. Curtains & Valances: Window treatment orders are targeted for dispatch within three weeks, though we are able to ship out many orders ahead of schedule. We use DHL or FedEx with typical transit time of 3-7 days. Majority of our clients receive their packages within three weeks from the date of order, but if our pipeline happens to be busy – especially during the holiday season – we do ask for your patience and aim for delivery in four weeks.
*Some drapes and valances with trims *may* take up to six weeks as our trims are sourced from Turkey & USA, thereby adding to our processing timeline in some instances.
Samples, Wallpapers & Fabrics by the Yard: Samples, wallpapers and fabrics bought by the yard are typically delivered within 7-10 days of order.
Accessories: If ordered standalone, accessories such as pillow covers, runners, table covers, dining placemats, and tiebacks are dispatched within 10 days of the date of order. If ordered alongside wall & window treatments, they are shipped altogether in line with the wall & window treatments dispatch timeline.
If there are any delays due to non-availability of fabric, or holds by customs officials for inspection, we will write to you as soon as possible.
OF NOTE
For complete details, please refer to our Returns & Cancellations policy.
Since each article at The White Window is cut and tailored to our customers’ exact specifications, by default, we do not accept any returns.
We recommend ordering fabric samples before placing an order as computer monitors/device screens can affect colour representation and we do not accept returns based on feedback on colour variance or personal aesthetic preferences.
From start to finish, every single product is manually handled from picking and cutting of fabric to sewing, ironing, folding and wrapping. In light of this rather intense human process, it’s not uncommon for end products to sometimes show minor signs of handling such as light tailor chalk marks, a rare stray thread, or specks of smudge from fabric production run. These minor flaws are unfortunately unavoidable, and we therefore do not accept requests for replacements or returns on these bases under any circumstances.
We follow standard industry guidelines for constructing custom window treatments, which include articles sewn with joining hems to achieve custom widths. Since joins are necessary to achieve certain sizes, we do not offer any compensation, return or replacement whatsoever on account of necessary joining hems.
Under rare circumstances where we may have made a mistake, we do consider returns on a case-by-case basis only as long as any issues/faults are communicated within five business days of receipt of merchandise.
Cancellation of orders will result in a 100% refund only if work has not started on the products. In most cases, work starts on orders within 2-3 hours of order being placed. After that, only the value of the order less costs incurred up to that point can be refunded. Since made-to-measure products are unlikely to be able to be resold, we do not offer refunds for cancellations after order is ready.
We believe in old-world craftsmanship and honesty of human hands, woven into every piece with meticulous attention to detail.
